Christmas in St. Louis (CISL) and the Christmas in St. Louis Foundation (Foundation) are comprehensive volunteer community-focused, non-profit organizations with distinct, yet complementary missions.
CISL is a civic organization dedicated to adding to the community’s celebration of the holiday season by coordinating Christmas lighting and decorations and thereby increasing tourism, shopping, dining and hotel usage in the St. Louis metropolitan area during the holiday season.
The Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to assisting and supporting, primarily through promotion and marketing, numerous local charities during the holiday season.
The Christmas in St. Louis Foundation is dedicated to the celebration of the holiday season in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
We are a community with deep traditions and rich history tied to our downtown. Whether it is the Cardinals at Busch Stadium, the Blues at the Enterprise Center, the Billikens at Chaifetz Arena, a concert at the Stifel Opera House, dining along Washington Avenue, or a picnic on the newly Arch grounds, the resurgence in downtown St. Louis is incredible. What a great place to live, work and play today!
Over the holidays, we host three special family events that have become a holiday tradition for hundreds of thousands.
On November 17, 2018, the Ameren Missouri Festival of Lights will kick off the holiday season. Live music and dance troupes will perform at Kiener Plaza, and we will light up the Salvation Army Christmas Tree and special holiday decorations along Market Street. At the end of the evening, we will celebrate with an incredible fireworks display.
On November 22, 2018, the Turkey Trott 5K will be run on the downtown streets. This chip-timed event features a quality souvenir for all participants, and helps collect cash donations and canned goods for Operation Food Search. The event is stroller and pet-friendly, and finishes along the Ameren Thanksgiving Parade route with a preferred viewing position.
Right after the Turkey Tott 5K, the Ameren Thanksgiving Parade will take to the streets of downtown St. Louis. Our parade features over 130 units, including marching bands from around the region, specially made floats, huge helium balloons, vintage cars and many other surprises. This year will be the 34th anniversary of the parade, which has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report as one of the best Thanksgiving Parades in the country.
In keeping with the spirit of the holiday season, we recognize local charities each year that made a difference in our community. We award a grant to each charity and, working with our media partner, KMOV-TV, provide broadcast exposure during the parade to highlight their missions and outstanding work here in St. Louis.
We invite you to attend all of our events with your families and friends. Make your own special memories with your families and friends, and please do not forget those in need this holiday season.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
